The Thornton Park boutique retirement village development will feature one-, two- and three-bedroom luxury apartments on Empire Circuit, a short walk to Penrith railway and shopping precinct and will also boast a café, hair and beauty salon, multi-purpose community centre, library, media room and community workshop.
Southern Cross Care’s CEO, Helen Emmerson, says they have thrown out the cookie cutter on the village’s design.
“At Thornton Park, we’re not just building a retirement village. We’re literally redesigning the Australian neighbourhood to cater to older people who are planning on living their lives in creative, meaningful and contributing ways.”
Ms Emmerson says the community will be designed to foster connections with a real cross-section of society, drawing together people with common interests and passions, regardless of age.
“Both within the village and into the wider community we’re harnessing mutually beneficial relationships with everyone, from wellness groups to arts and historical societies, schools, universities, gardening groups and growers markets, with the goal of connecting people to what matters most to them.”
The wide range of optional services will include housekeeping; laundry services; shopping; cooking; running errands; transport; dog walking and grooming, and car cleaning.
Residents will also be entitled to member benefits such as access to the weekly Happy Hour in the Community Centre; a full-time concierge; onsite allied health services; APT travel and cruise discounts, and tailored packages. A 100-bed aged care facility is also planned for the site.
