Retirement can be a time for creativity and originality and the residents at Newling Gardens Retirement Village are looking forward to proving that by inviting members of the public to attend an exclusive launch party to view their exhibition on Friday 26th October from 5pm to 7pm.
Works including paintings, sculpture, literature, tapestry, patchwork, woodwork and more, will be on show in the village’s community centre until Tuesday 30th October.
Around 20 residents will have items on exhibition or for sale, including well-known local author, Geoff Quaife, and talented woodworker, David Donald.
Resident and accomplished painter, Heather Winch, said the village wanted to showcase the talent at the village and prove that moving into a retirement village doesn’t mean “putting your slippers on and doing nothing”.
The launch party will kick off with a champagne reception, with hors d’oeuvres, cake, tea and coffee also on offer.
A portion of profits will be invested back into the village with ten percent of sales going towards a defibrillator or something similar according to Heather.
Everyone is welcome to attend Newling Gardens’ creative showcase launch on Friday 26th October from 5pm to 7pm, and to visit the exhibition until 4pm on Tuesday 30th October at 173 Taylor Street, Armidale.
