The leading Not For Profit has announced it will partner with the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau to help develop the skills of Chinese aged care staff.

The partnership was formed after Baptcare attended the Austrade International Aged Care Summit in Beijing last November and had a follow-up meeting with Bureau representatives.

The two organisations plan to set up a professional skills training and work placement program to be delivered in Baptcare’s aged care facilities across Melbourne and its Camberwell head office. 

An ongoing online mentoring program will also provide continued support after participants return to Shanghai.

China’s aged care industry is a growing market for Australia’s expertise. The Not For Profit RDNS (Royal District Nursing Service) collaborates with a number of Chinese organisations through its Research Institute. Melbourne-based Independent Management Group, headed by Susan Malone, is also taking the lead in aged care training here and in Asia.

Architects ThomsonAdsett have also recently joined forces with Borderless Healthcare Group to develop a new range of smart home design technologies for the Asian seniors living market.
