The West Australian not-for-profit retirement village and aged care provider has taken out the top award at the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA)’s prestigious awards ceremony.
The residential apartment and residential aged care complex opened its doors in March this year and now has over 40 apartment residents and 75 aged care facility clients settled in.
Bethanie Chief Executive Officer Chris How comments, “This is wonderful recognition for all the vision, planning, energy, dedication and hard work that has gone into transforming a vacant piece of land into a fantastic outcome for Bethanie, the Perth community and our customers.”
The Gwelup development has a unique, campus-style design that will eventually feature a 112-bed aged care facility adjoining 62 one- and two-bedroom apartments, allowing Bethanie to offers its residents a ‘continuum of care’ with couples able to live across both living options.
The judges were impressed with the level of technology throughout the campus, low environmental footprint, and available services to the residents which include meal delivery and in-house cleaning and laundry services.
The campus also has a fully equipped gym, wellness centre, hair salon, library, private bar and dining room areas each with barbecues and balconies overlooking Lake Gwelup.
There are currently 22 apartments still available starting from $420,000, each with a gourmet kitchen, large master bedroom, resort-style ensuite, and an airy open-plan living area that flows onto an expansive balcony or courtyard.
As Chris says: “It’s one thing to put bricks on top of one other, it’s another thing to create a new community and make it as warm and welcoming as Bethanie Gwelup is.”
