Wivenhoe Village at Kirkham Rise has been chosen as the most outstanding retirement living development in Australia at the annual awards night of the Property Council of Australia.
According to Wivenhoe development company Mbark director John Leo, the award was a testament to the hard work and commitment of their amazing team, reinforced by the cooperation and support of their residents.
Mr Leo expressed his pride in the social, environmental and heritage outcomes the project has delivered for the local community and his appreciation for the support from the industry and the Wivenhoe and local community.
The over -5’s community was conceived in partnership with the Sisters of the Good Samaritan (the long-term owners of the land) and includes 149 freestanding homes built within 120 hectares of protected Cumberland woodland. The village features a community facility with an indoor heated swimming pool, a gym or and a cinema.
The purpose-built homes are not only wonderful to live in now according to Mr Leo but also accommodate the residents’ changing needs allowing them to age in place.
Wivenhoe’s sister village The Arbour Berry won the same award in 2014.
