The 52-apartment retirement village – known as Alondra Residences – is now under construction with bulk earthworks almost completed, and will be part of a larger proposed Residential Care Precinct by the not-for-profit in Nundah.
Featuring an in-house concierge, on-demand health services, bespoke retirement residences and neighbouring aged care service offering, Alondra Residences marks an expansion and uplift of Lutheran Services’ portfolio which includes 11 retirement villages across Queensland.
Lutheran Services CEO Jacqueline Kelly said Alondra Residences was inspired by world-class retirement communities throughout Switzerland, while taking from affordable housing projects that foster a sense of community.
“We believe it’s time to change people’s perceptions and experience of ageing through offering greater choice and connectedness,” Ms Kelly said.
Designed by award-winning architects BVN, BVN Principal Mark Grimmer said the design inspiration came from nature, home and community, resulting in a building that focuses on natural airflow and the outdoors.
“The tree-centred design features thousands of plants, a cascading water wall, reflection gardens and a green rooftop and entertainment facility overlooking the city,” Mr Grimmer said.
“There’s a range of places for people to bump into each other, wide open corridors, a central public cafe and landscaped seating areas, encouraging friendships within and outside the building,” he said.
Alondra Residences’ 52 pet-friendly apartments include multiple balconies or a private garden, while residents will have an in-house concierge, on-demand health services and secure living through a 24 hour emergency call system and access to neighbouring aged care facilities.
One-bedroom apartments start from $430,000.
