NSW Minister for Ageing, Andrew Constance, kicked off NSW Seniors Week by acknowledging 14 Achievement Award recipients for their service and contribution to New South Wales.
Of the group, Mr Constance said that they ‘represent what it means to be an older Australian today”.
It’s a view endorsed by Lifestyle Coordinator Annie Lurder at Tall Trees Care Communities. She says the key messages behind Seniors Week should be encouraged every week.
“The biggest hurdle is making people understand that it doesn’t matter how many miles you’ve got on the clock, we all need to laugh, interact with other people and be loved,” said Ms Lurder.
In Sydney, 30,000 people are expected to attend three Premier’s Gala concerts being held as part of the celebrations this week.
Not to be left out, 20 residents from Tall Trees participated in ‘Morning Melodies’ at
Murwillumbah RSL.
“We have a 92-year-old resident who shows locals that age won’t be stopping her from doing the things she loves,” said Annie.
