The Managing Director of the Provectus Care Group, Shane Moran, has been revealed as the buyer of the heritage-listed Darling House in Sydney’s Dawes Point, the most expensive purchase so far in the NSW government’s sell-off of historic properties adjacent to the Harbour Bridge.
He is a member of the Moran care dynasty that has a track record of buying run down heritage homes and returning them to their former glory. This 1840s Victorian Georgian-style property cost Moran $7.7 million.
Interestingly, for over 20 years Darling House had been run as a low-income aged care facility for inner-city residents until the Government controversially ended its $5-a-week rent agreement in 2015.
While the 759 sqm property had been listed as a grand family home, Moran has plans to refurbish the 10-bedroom house before turning it back into a boutique aged care facility, adding it to Provectus’ portfolio of top end care facilities in NSW, VIC and QLD.
After running the family’s Moran Health for a number of years he launched Provectus in 2001. He is also a practicing lawyer and a Doctor of Philosophy in Health, with his doctoral thesis relating to the aged care crisis in China, where he also consults.
