Tea Tree Gardens Retirement Village has celebrated the 90th anniversary of the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia by raising $2,500 for the not-for-profit organisation at a village event.

Dressed in the RFDS colours residents and staff hosted a morning tea and enjoyed games including a paper plane throwing competition.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service is one of the largest aeromedical organisations in the world providing health care and emergency services to people over an area of 7.69 million square kilometres with its fleet of 69 aircraft flying over 26 million kilometres last year – the equivalent of 34 trips to the moon and back.

The Tea Tree Gardens community holds regular fundraising events for local and national causes and last December raised over $5,000 for the Women and Children’s Hospital Foundation in Adelaide.
