After six months trialling in limited Brisbane suburbs, the digital Peer to Peer home support service Five Good Friends was officially launched last week by the Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Graham Quirk, and their new ambassador, Ita Buttrose.

Five Good Friends is the brainchild of Tim Russell, the founder of RetireAustralia, and his two university mates and founders of successful tech start up everydayhero, Simon Lockyer and Nathan Betteridge.
Russell resigned the CEO role at RetireAustralia in May 2015 to establish Five Good Friends and several months ago achieved the external fundraising to take it to the wider market, including engaging Buttrose.
The Five Good Friends name refers to the Dan Buettner / Blue Zone research which says optimum quality of later life revolves around having a lifelong close circle of five core friends.
Five Good Friends offers home support services for an average rate of $35 an hour, with a digital app being the centre of the matching recruitment, backed up by full online administration.
