The project at Kununurra in WA’s far north will boast 32 aged care beds plus home care and support services tailored to both the Kimberley climate and the local culture.
There will be three accommodation wings including single rooms with ensuites and two- and three-bedroom rooms with ensuites as well as space for existing HACC and home care services and therapy and exercise spaces.
The new facility will also offer nursing and dementia care services, medical care and allied health services such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, music therapy, massage and pain management.
Chief Executive Vaughan Harding (pictured) says Juniper has worked closely with the community to provide more options for people living in the town and surrounding region. “At the moment families and older people are often forced look to Darwin and Perth for care and support,” he said.
A member of UnitingCare, Juniper are one of the sector’s quiet achievers, providing services to over 4,000 people across the state’s rural and remote areas.
They are jointly funding the project themselves with the Commonwealth Government and are looking for around $11.5 million in grants to get the project off the ground.
