Wivenhoe Village at Kirkham Rise in NSW has won the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) Award for Excellence in Retirement Living 2018. This is the village’s second award this year, having been recognised in May as the best retirement village nationally by the Property Council of Australia.
The UDIA awards are designed to highlight innovation, sustainability, industry leadership and excellence in urban development across NSW and the ACT.
James Robinson, Director of Mbark, the retirement village specialist company behind Wivenhoe Village, acknowledged their dedicated team and thanked their partners, the Sisters of the Good Samaritan for trusting them with the site which has amazing historical and environmental values. He added that it was an honour to receive the award, in a pool of such strong finalists and nominees.
Wivenhoe Village is an over 55’s independent living retirement community of 149 freestanding homes nestled amongst 120ha of protected Cumberland woodland.
The 13 different styles of home have been specifically designed to emphasize the bushland setting and maximise privacy whilst maintaining a sense of space and openness and the flexibility and adaptability of the design allows residents to adjust their accommodation to their changing needs into the future.
Facilities of the village include The Lodge, where Wivenhoe residents can enjoy the 50-seat cinema, the indoor heated swimming pool, the gym or have a game of snooker.
Following this win Wivenhoe now has the opportunity for qualification into the UDIA National Awards for Excellence.
