QLD-based land lease operator Halcyon will build Australia’s first over-50 golf and country club after buying 46 hectares (114 acres) of land at Mirvac’s Gainsborough Greens community at Pimpama, 50km south of Brisbane and 30km north of Surfers Paradise.
This is Halcyon’s eighth community and largest. It includes the Gainsborough Greens Golf Club, 18-hole golf course and 34 hectares of residential development land.
Plans include a new clubhouse with the course to stay open to Gainsborough Greens residents and the public.
Unlike other land lease communities which are usually priced from around $300,000, Halcyon’s homes can top $1M. Homes at their exclusive Halcyon Waters’ community on Hope Island are priced from $635,000.
Mirvac’s Gainsborough Greens is already home to over 1,000 residents with over 2,200 houses planned for the site.
Halcyon was established in 2004 by the lawyer Paul Melville and doctor, Bevan Geissmann.
