Retirement village and land lease directory now available for West Australian seniors
For the first time in Western Australia, the Property Council has put together a directory of retirement villages and land lease communities across the state for people thinking about their housing options later in life.
Available online free of charge, the comprehensive list is designed to make it quicker, easier, and more convenient for seniors and their families to find suitable accommodation
The directory features the website and contact details for the more than 200 retirement villages and land lease communities across Western Australia.
It also covers important information such as whether aged care is provided on site; how many bedrooms the units have; what communal facilities are on offer; and whether 24-hour supervision and an emergency call system is available
“Today’s retirement living sector is a modern industry that can offer residents a resort lifestyle including, swimming pools, spas and gyms while also offering care facilities to allow residents to age in place,” Property Council WA Executive Director Lino Iacomella said.
“The range of housing options and services available also provides for a diverse mix of needs, offering everything from facilities to entertain the extended family to boutique shopping and dining experiences.”
The guide also explains the differences between retirement villages and land lease communities including the contact and lease information and the legislation that governs them.
Compiled by TPG + Place Match with assistance from members of the Property Council WA Retirement Living Committee, all of the information will be updated on a regular basis too.
“For those about to embark on retirement planning, by entering seniors’ accommodation, the decision of where to live can be a complex and frustrating one,” Mr Iacomella said.
“This directory will make that transition a smoother and less stressful process for WA seniors and their families.”
