Ryman Healthcare, one of the largest and highest valued retirement village providers in New Zealand, has achieved recognition this month for the group’s increasingly respected standard of care for residents, and highly regarded reputation amongst the industry over the past six years.
Since Ryman Healthcare Managing Director, Simon Challies, reevaluted the company’s mission after a personal experience being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, Ryman has equipped their residences with gourmet food services and quality amenities to standards not often seen in rest home care.
The introductions made by the village providers has seen the creation of the term the ‘Ryman benchmark', a scale of comparison between Ryman and similar rest homes being considered by downsizing seniors.
For Mr. Challies, he said, ‘having trouble brushing his own teeth’ gave him tremendous empathy for residents in Ryman’s villages and what they would be going through in their everyday lives, prompting him to make sizeable investments into improving daily care given to residents and future residents.
