The CEO and ACSA board director also took out the award for Health & Pharmaceuticals Executive of the Year at the 2016 CEO Magazine Executive of the Year Awards.

With over 25 years’ experience in the health industry, Adj Prof Cornelissen took over the CEO role at Mercy in July 2011 and has since seen the provider expand its health and community services.

Adj Prof Cornelissen said he was humbled by the award, saying it also recognised the contribution of Mercy’s staff. “Caring for others in times of need is a privilege. Working with people who share a common bond to care means that every day I come to work, I know I am part of a team which is making a difference in the lives of the greater Australian community,” he said.

Mercy Health is one of Victoria’s largest not-for-profit health and aged care providers, offering services across VIC, southern NSW and the ACT.
