Billing itself as “launching Australia’s most advanced senior living communities”, Love Decency Kindness Healthcare has partnered with the owners of five sets of two buildings, to “repurpose” the office spaces into up to 380 serviced retirement apartments.

The site, which is approximately 60,703sqm, is off Athllon Drive Greenway in Tuggeranong.

LDK Healthcare CEO Byron Cannon says the apartments will range in size from 40sqm one-bedroom units to 85 to 95sqm two-bedroom units.

The campus will also include 16 secure dementia rooms and up to 100 high care beds which LDK will operate, housing up to 450 residents in total.

The group says they will be delivering vibrant communities for their residents supported by state of the art technology to optimise resident outcomes and providing a genuine continuum of care.  According to Mr Cannon “when a person joins our family as a resident, they will not have to move again”.

Community amenities planned include a gymnasium, men’s shed, a corner store, a bar, barber shop and hair and beauty salon. The development will also have a 130-seat private theatre, library, chapel and outdoor barbecue and pizza oven and more than 300 car spaces.

Interestingly Mr Cannon, formerly founding director at Ferguson Cannon Lawyers for over 20 years, says LDK will also offer a community membership to all seniors and their carers in Australia.

This support will include free access to the LDK Healthcare advice line, visits by their registered nurses during unexpected hospital stays to help members understand their aged care options, priority access to respite care when they need it most, and VIP invitations to community events in their villages.

Demolition of the internal spaces started in May with the first residents expected to move in mid-2019.
