RetireAustralia’s Albury retirement village Murray Gardens is opening their doors to members of the public tomorrow, as they are invited to join village residents at the launch party and unveiling of their latest book.

The book is a collection of life stories, titled Memories, and is a sequel to the residents’ first publication, Reflections, released in 2012. Memories consists of 42 stories by 30 authors, comprises of roughly 100 pages, and even includes historical pictures added by the contributing residents.

Village Manager Chiquita Walsh noted that residents were excited about releasing the book, as the release is a celebration of the dedicated residents who worked to complete it for some time.

“Residents have been working together wonderfully to finish the book,” Ms Walsh said.

“It will be an interesting read and a fantastic insight into the lives of our residents and the history of the area.”

Launch party guests, residents and friends will also be joined by Albury City mayor Kevin Mack, who will attend the event in an official capacity.

Murray Gardens resident Audrey Davidson, who first collated stories for Reflections, has been instrumental in organizing the upcoming release of Memories.

“I got to thinking that a lot of people in retirement villages have stories, memories and reflections that should be written down,” Audrey said.

Audrey and her fellow residents are ready to party on Tuesday 31st October, and everyone is welcome to attend and join in the fun.

The event kicks off at 4pm in the village community centre, 36 Mountford Crescent, Albury.
