An innovative three step program designed to assist and protect everyone involved in a retirement village affected by dementia has been developed by Alzheimer’s Australia NSW and consulting firm One Fell Swoop.
It addresses the challenges of residents living with dementia in a village with a range of tools, for the benefit of operators and residents.
For example it addresses appropriate screening processes during admission of new residents for suitability while complying with the Anti Discrimination Act.
Staff education and skill upgrades to equip supporting residents living with dementia are also covered.
