The annual Greater Shepparton Corporate Pedometer Challenge is back on for 2017, seeing the return of a partnership of Greater Shepparton City Council, GV Health, and Shepparton Retirement Villages for the initiative, inspiring people to get active and raising funds for worthy causes.

Participants in this year’s challenge, that kicked off on Monday the 2nd of October, can choose to donate their entry fee to one of three charities; GV Health, Shepparton Retirement Villages or Sporting Chance. Last year a grand total of 1,080 people signed up to take part in the challenge, resulting in $16,911 of raised funds being donated to the charities.

Weekly prizes will be awarded to teams leading the challenge with the most amounts of steps amassed, and the corporate team with the most steps clocked in their name at the end of the challenge will win the Corporate Challenge Cup.

Greater Shepparton City Council Chief Executive Officer Peter Harriott encouraged businesses to get on board and sign up.

“The challenge is a great way for people to get active as well as give back to their community via their entry fee,” Mr Harriott said.

Shepparton Villages Chief Executive Officer Kerri Rivett also highlighted the positives of joining the challenge, as it is all about keeping fit and healthy for life.

“Our staff loved being involved in last year’s challenge and saw great on going benefits from this community challenge.”

The challenge will run until 29 October 2017.
