In August, one of Australia’s best known not-for-profit retirement village providers, Bethanie, was joined by Minister for Seniors and Ageing the Honourable Mick Murray MLA to officially open its new retirement facility near Lake Gwelup, in WA.

The new complex, Bethanie Gwelup, is a campus-style village that first opened its doors in March this year to settle in the initial 40 apartment residents and 75 aged care facility residents.

Now fully operational, the village contains a 112-bed aged care unit and adjoining 62 one and two-bedroom apartments, with the majority overlooking the picturesque Lake Gwelup and all receiving Bethanie’s unique method of care and service.

Bethanie CEO Chris How highlighted that the concept of the lifestyle apartments and residential care complex being adjoined allow for a ‘continuum of care’, something Bethanie is committed to delivering to its customers.

“Once you are part of the Bethanie family, you’re in our capable hands to take care of your needs as they change. Each customer’s ageing journey is different, so we are putting a strong focus on being able to provide care that suits the individual,” said Mr How.

“Having the lifestyle apartments and residential care complex side by side has a number of positive effects for clients.”

“First of all, we can keep couples together. It also means our clients can stay in an independent living apartment, but utilise the services we offer under home care as needed. And when the time comes where they may need more help, we are literally next door. This was all designed to allow us to offer a continuum of care,” concluded Mr How.

Each architecturally designed residence starts at $350,000 and features a gourmet kitchen, large master bedroom, resort-style ensuite, premium finishes, air-conditioning and an airy open-plan living area that flows onto an expansive balcony or courtyard. The village also includes a fully equipped gym, wellness centre, hair salon, library and bar and dining room areas, each with barbecues and balconies overlooking Lake Gwelup.
