The idea of comfortably retiring in a developed and design-conscious retirement village is slowly
gaining ground in Britain, with the country looking to the retirement living standards of Australia
as inspiration.
While Britain does not have vast quantities of untouched land amongst low-density rural towns
or coastlines, Richard Williams, chief executive of Rangeford, a dedicated developer of villages
and communities for the over-55s in the UK, has said that there is potential to offer premium
lifestyle communities to seniors across Britain.
“In this country there is a huge opportunity for retirement living developments,” Mr. Williams
says. “It’s all about lifestyle and creating that lifestyle in a pleasant environment; giving people
the opportunity to live independently but with care and support when they need it.”
