Work has finally begun on a 128 bed aged care facility in Quakers Hill (NSW) that was partially destroyed by fire last year.

The NSW Minister for Ageing, and Minister for Disability Services, The Hon. Andrew James Constance, MP (pictured) and Commissioner Greg Mullins of Fire and Rescue NSW were on hand at the official sod turning ceremony.

With 104 resident rooms, the new facility nearly triples capacity while greatly improving on services for a growing local community.

Sean Bilton of Domain Principal Group was very pleased with the new design, which includes a memorial open to the public.

“The three things we know from experience are absolutely crucial are clear way-finding, a sense of
homeliness or ‘liveability’, and a building that is flexible and serviceable into its later life,” he said.
