Last week we stated that Roger Kwok’s Hidden Valley is the largest retirement village currently in development in Australia (50km north of Melbourne), with a planned 537 units and 128 in stage one just commenced.
We received an email from Stephan Gook, Aveo National Marketing Manager, pointing out that their Springfield village development will top out at 2,500 units, with 66 in development for completion in March and sales interest strong.
Don’t know Springfield? It is a remarkable development conceived 25 years ago by Maha Sinnathamby (a Malaysian who came to Australia as a student) and his partner, Bob Sharpless. They bought the 2860ha of wasteland 21km from the centre of Ipswich and 33km from Brisbane’s CBD for $7.8M in 1992. It is now Australia's largest master-planned community, and 10th largest globally. To date, $12B has been invested, with it expected to top out at $85B.
Aveo is the cornerstone of its Health campus strategy.
