Dee Why Gardens inaugural Antique Roadshow is the talk of the town today in Sydney's Northern Beaches. The established retirement village, known for its outstanding residence options set admist relaxed and leafy surrounds, didn't disappoint a crowd of 200 visitors when some unexpected posessions stole the show!
The event offered visitors to Dee Why's premier retirement village the opportunity to have one or two hand-held pieces valued by an antique expert. An eclectic mix of furnishings, homewares and ornaments, including a very rare Faberge figurine with diamond inset, found their way to Dee Why Gardens, with owners receiving an amazing number of pleasantly surprising appraisals.
Valuers and guests were especially in awe of one very lucky lady, who presented an original Picasso painting for inspection. The painting - a portrait of a woman in Picasso's signature abstract style - was purchased for $US2000 approximately 10 years ago. The cheerful collector was told at Dee Why Gardens today to expect a current value hundreds to thousands times more than that original price.
Yet another amazing find was one lady's collection of startling pre-Columbian Inca jewellery, estimated to be up to 10,000 years old and in remarkable condition. The event - which was an amazing success - really goes demonstrated that those unassuming family heirlooms might just change your life!
