Maryborough’s Fair Haven retirement village celebrated the birthday of not one but two residents who turned 100.

"It's very special for anyone to reach 100 but to have two on the same day is wonderful,” said lifestyle team leader Christine Betteridge.

Erna Goschnick and Dorothy Savage have been the centre of attention all week, not just for their birthdays. Family travelled from as far afield as Germany and Scotland to celebrate the joint occasion.

"I've always worked hard and enjoyed myself," said Ms Goschnick who is still mobile. Ms Savage’s daughter Kay Webb spoke about how her mother had been a teacher and was a giving person.

"She did a lot of volunteering with the autism society," she said.
