Aged care provider Thompson Health Care has applied to turn the 56-unit village at Woy Woy, 80km from Sydney, into a 160-bed aged care facility.

The previous owners of the village had applied in 2006 and 2007 to add 41 independent living units to the village, but Council had refused the application.

The plans for the $27 million three-storey facility will now go before a regional planning panel because of the value of the development.

Thompson Health Care owns 12 aged care facilities across Sydney, Southern Highlands and Mid-North Coast.
