On Saturday November 18th, leading Australian retirement village provider Aveo Group officially unveiled the first stage of its $250 million Aveo Newcastle community development, in a grand opening that brought together local government representatives and industry leaders to celebrate the presentation.

Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Councillor Nuatali Nelmes, and Aveo Group CEO Geoff Grady attended the display for a ribbon cutting ceremony and reveal of the plaque. The free public event not only opened display villas for all to inspect, but also included activities, entertainment, a sausage sizzle, food trucks, and wine tasting.

Aveo Group Executive General Manager of Integrated Retirement Communities, Jason Eldering, said of the grand opening: “It was a perfect opportunity for locals to join us in celebrating the launch of Aveo Newcastle – we had so much to showcase at the grand opening that was very exciting for existing and future residents.”

“The response from the wider community has been overwhelmingly positive – the fact that so many properties have already sold can be put down to the increasing demand for seniors looking to downsize without compromising on location or lifestyle.

“We anticipate Stage 1 to sell out in the next few weeks, which will be a tremendous outcome confirming that Aveo Newcastle truly is a masterfully planned retirement community,” he said.

Mr Eldering added that care and wellbeing services at Aveo Newcastle will be a big focus for the community, emphasizing the importance of diverse health services catering to residents.

“It’s extremely important we provide our residents and their families with a peace of mind, so ensuring we have the necessary care services for our residents to age in place over time, is absolutely imperative – it’s all about providing a community for life.” Mr Eldering said.

Coming in at $24 million, the first phase of the development houses a world-class three-storey community centre at the village’s heart. The architecturally designed centre will provide residents with entertainment spaces, lounge areas, a craft room and resident bar, along with a health and wellness suite with consulting rooms, hair salon and purpose built gymnasium.

Already an astonishing 80% of the 50 two-bedroom independent living villas in the collection of first phase-release properties have sold, setting the bar high for the $220 million project that will feature 300 independent villas and 127 aged care rooms once completed in six years.
