The community at Stockland’s Mernda Retirement Village in Victoria have been celebrating the results of ongoing sustainability and wellbeing initiatives, with residents providing feedback that their personal finances and general state of health have improved - thanks to a new Green Star rating the village has accomplished.
Each of the 275 homes within the village are one of thirteen different sustainably-designed villa types, that offer residents choice depending on their budget and personal circumstances. Design features include solar powered hot water systems, energy and water-saving fixtures, and energy monitors in each home. And, each home meets the Green Building Council of Australia’s rigorous 4 Star Green Star benchmarks.
“Right from the beginning we have incorporated a range of environmentally-sustainable features to reduce energy and water usage and minimise operating costs across the village,” says Daniel Milentijevic, Stockland’s regional development manager for its Retirement Living business.
Not only are the homes design-centric, the heart of the village features a spectacular clubhouse boasting a range of facilities for residents including indoor gym, swimming pool, wellbeing centre, bar, dining room and media space.
“The vibrant community, number of activities and facilities on offer, and the fact that our residents are surrounded by like-minded neighbours in a safe and secure environment is a big part of what makes living in a Stockland village so attractive.”
