Queensland’s premium retirement and lifestyle village operator Halcyon is celebrating the win of yet another award to their already-impressive list of accolades.
The six-leaf enviro-certification prize awarded by The Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) to the Halcyon Lakeside retirement village, is a recognition of Halcyon’s ‘green’ credentials. Halcyon Lakeside exceeded the UDIA’s EnviroDevelopment standards for renewable energy, ecosystems, and sustainable consumables within the 231-home community.
In the past four years, Halcyon has achieved similar accreditations at the Halcyon Glades and Halcyon Landing communities. This third award upon the Halcyon Lakeside village means that the group is now outranking other retirement village providers for enviro-sensitive practices.
Halcyon’s joint managing director Mr. Bevan Geissmann said the company was delighted to receive a third six-leaf certification, saying that the achievement reflected the emphasis that Halcyon and its residents placed on sustainable development and its benefits.
“These principles are a hallmark of our communities,” he said. “To collect a third certification in four years shows that we are committed to delivering a high level of sustainability on a consistent basis across our projects.”
“It’s a philosophy that is important to Halcyon and which is embraced by our residents, who are at a stage of their lives where they are considering their environmental legacy and wanting to leave a lighter footprint on the earth.”
