Halcyon Greens retirement village in Pimpama on the Gold Coast has earned attention from the community and industry peers recently for aiming to adopt a clever usage of technology to improve the daily lives of residents.

A bold yet simple license plate recognition technology is planning to be rolled out, that will enable homeowners to enter and exit the community freely in their golf buggies or cars without the need of manual gate clickers or remembering pin codes.

The system is expected to be installed and ready for use later this year, situated on the front entry gate of the village as well as on entry points to the exclusive Gainsborough Greens Golf Club.

Halcyon joint managing director Bevan Geissmann said the introduction of the technology will enable homeowners to feel more secure, while adding a new level of convenience when entering and exiting the gated community.

“We’re all about lifestyle at Halcyon, but the licence plate recognition technology now puts our communities at the forefront of innovation for the everyday,” Dr Geissmann said.

“This technology will make an already leisurely lifestyle an even more seamless experience and it builds on the many other initiatives already in place.”

Other initiatives at Halcyon Greens include giving residents the option of going ‘off the grid’ through Tesla Powerwall systems that reduce electricity bills.

Dr Geissmann said the incorporation of these types of innovations set Halcyon apart.

“A home at Halcyon is a lifestyle change for the better, and that’s exactly what we intend to deliver.”
