Construction starts this month on the Bellarine Lakes Village, hitherto The Bellarine Lakes Golf Park in Moolap near Geelong.

Director Stewart Gull says stage one of the $80 million retirement village will commence with building 30 ILU’s and construction of community facilities.

The 49ha retirement village plans to have 336 villas set around the former golf course, with prices ranging between $400,000 and $550,000.

"It's really going to be a country club style of living with a community centre, bowling greens and two swimming pools," said Mr Gull.

"Fundamentally, what we've been doing is planning a quality development consisting of two and three-bedroom residences, all with terracotta tiled roofs and some with double garages."

A nine hole golf course will be retained with village residents given exclusive access, and each dwelling has been designed with golf-cart provisions.

A permit has been sought to create a co-located 90-bed aged care facility.
