After an international music and entertainment career spanning decades and continents, musician Keith van Geyzel and his wife Karin moved to lifestyle community Vision by Halcyon in Hope Island 18 months ago, with plans to spend more time with his lifelong passion, the piano.
Mr van Geyzel who has worked with international and Australian artists, and created the musical scores for many movies, documentaries and countless advertisements, admits it is nice to play for his own enjoyment now, something he has not had much of a chance to do since his teenage years.
In August Mr van Geyzel started a community choir and looks forward to seeing the group of 20, which gathers around Vision’s new piano each Thursday morning, grow and develop their skills.
The choir of Vision by Halcyon home owners recently performed at a Drought Relief Concert in the community, which raised $8,000 for the cause. Keith accompanied Vision singers Clint Talbot and Alan Welsh, and guest vocalist Lesley Hartz, during the concert, which was enjoyed by 110 people in the Vision by Halcyon Leisure Club.
The Vision choir is planning its next performance at a concert in January, and Mr van Geyzel is keen to reach out to musicians and singers at nearby Halcyon Waters for some collaboration.
Vision by Halcyon is a water fronting, gated lifestyle community in Hope Island which won the prestigious UDIA Seniors’ Living Award in 2016.
