A two day national conference in June will explore aged care for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual and intersex people in Australia.

Speakers and facilitators from across Australia will cover issues including the necessity for an LGBTI-specific aged care strategy, cultural sensitivity and LGBTI retirement villages.

In a statement, conference manager Anji Kurian said that the forum will bring together community leaders and senior researchers to share perspectives on good practice insights for real needs.

Other topics at the forum will include PFLAG’s Shelley Argent speaking on ‘baby boomers’ plus the Uniting Church’s Rev Dorothy McRae-McMahon on inclusion, religion and social justice.

The inaugural LGBTI Aged Care Forum will take place on June 13 and 14 at the Sydney Harbour Marriot.
