The village at Springfield Lakes, east of the Ipswich CBD near Brisbane, is being put forward as part of a new multi-faith community centre by the Vedanta Centre in Brisbane.

The sect, which is part of the Ramakrishna Order, wants to construct a multi-purpose centre for meditation, prayer and yoga in the first stage of the development. This would be followed by the retirement village and a community centre with a clubhouse.

Resident Swami for the Centre’s Brisbane Chapter, Swami Atmeshananda said the new centre will be a great place for the elderly to “hang out”.

“It will be a place for like-minded people who believe in harmony of faith and religion and for those who want to live a quiet life,” he said.
