A Sydney-based company has invented a mobile personal device for the elderly which is part emergency call, part GPS, part mobile phone and part wristwatch – all with a built-in loudspeaker.

Called the mCareWatch, it has an SOS button plus a two way communication feature in an emergency.

If the wearer is incapable of talking the carer or family member can activate a GPS locator utilising Google Maps. It can be rented on a monthly plan of approximately $40 or purchased outright for approximately $450.

The company was founded by two brothers, Peter Apostolopoulos and Paul Apostolis.
