Lady Florence Bjelke-Petersen will join residents and local seniors when private aged care provider Tall Trees Tanah Merah holds an Open Day on Saturday 2 March.

Politics and the state of aged care in Queensland is guaranteed to be a hot topic.

Retired politician and writer Lady Flo will be the keynote speaker at Tall Trees. Co-founder Phil Usher says she will share her perspective on Queensland politics during her 12 years as senator and throughout Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen’s reign as Premier.

“Lady Flo will be sure to speak about her time between 1981 to 1993 as a member of the Australian Senate,” said Mr Usher.

“And of course a number of fascinating stories will stem from being married to the longest-serving Premier of Queensland.

Mr Usher says they wanted to go above and beyond the typical structure of an Open Day and provide seniors with a more educational and inspiring experience.

“Other than Lady Flo, we have three spokespeople coming along to give presentations on issues that matter most to seniors, but are often overlooked,” Mr Usher says.

Gae Munsie, Cliff Battley and Golden Years Director Cameron Early will dementia, health care and financial concerns.

“We’ll also have two Tall Trees residents from the Tanah Merah Care Community giving their personal perspective on life after moving into Tall Trees,” said Mr Usher.
