Michael Eggington leaves Lendlease, the country’s largest retirement village operator, after four years as its top retirement executive.
His first experience with the village sector was in the late 1980s as an engineer working for Delfin in the building of Woodbridge retirement village for the Port Adelaide Central Mission.
Again for Delfin, he led the acquisition of the A.V. Jennings business which also delivered the Retirement by Design portfolio of villages, which eventually became the cornerstone of Lendlease’s retirement business after they acquired Delfin in 2001.
By 2007 Michael was appointed General Manager of Stockland’s newly acquired retirement village business, responsible for three years for its overall operations.
In 2012 he was approached by Lendlease Retirement to be Managing Director and to consolidate their retirement business. Over four years he has rationalised and expanded the village portfolio by 40% in size.
Michael has championed the broadening of the village product to satisfy the emerging baby boomer market with segmented product offerings, including top end apartment living.
He was a foundation member and champion of the Retirement Living Council.
