A 30-year-old murder case appears to have finally been solved with the arrest of a resident at the Waterford Park retirement village at Knoxfield in Melbourne’s east.

Six-year-old Kylie Maybury went missing on November 6, 1984, in Preston, north of Melbourne’s CBD while on an errand to a corner store.

Her body was found the next day, but police never located her killer.

The Herald Sun reports there has now been a breakthrough in the case with Gregory Keith Davies, 73, charged with the rape, false imprisonment and murder. Police had made an appeal for information last year after a review of the case in 2014 and Davies has been remanded in custody to reappear in court.
