As part of the Central Coast community’s annual Anzac Day commemoration a new war memorial and flagpole was unveiled at Forresters Beach Retirement Village.

The ceremony on 19th April was attended by Federal Member for Dobell, Emma McBride and State Member for Terrigal, Adam Crouch with the keynote speaker from RAAF Williamtown.

Representatives from the National Servicemen’s Association and the War Widows’ Guild, and students from Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College also attended.

According to Doug Roser, a village resident and retired RAAF engineering officer who was instrumental in securing the funding grant from Department of Veterans Affairs, the project was in recognition of the men and women who served in the armed forces of Australia in all wars and conflicts. He thanked DVA and RetireAustralia for their support.

Residents are planning to use the memorial throughout the year for ceremonies recognising the police, ambulance and fire services and plan to recruit volunteers to ensure the flag is flown daily.
