26 residents at a Sydney nursing home were assessed for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at Greystanes last Tuesday.

The fire was traced back to a laundry where it was quickly contained by firefighters. It’s believed to have started in a washing machine.

It follows the previous week when $300,000 of damage was caused to a retirement village unit in Adelaide when tea towels were left on a push-button stove by a resident.

This is the sixth fire in a retirement village in 2016 that we know of. Fortunately nobody was injured.
