The huge Penrith Panthers Leagues Club will commence building within six months a 108 unit retirement village plus 108 bed aged care facility on 22 ha adjacent to its club in central Penrith.
Their development partner, Maurice Tulich, grew up on his father’s market gardens in South West Sydney and was amongst the first developers of the modern retirement village; previously his family business manufactured hospital and aged care furniture.
He kicked off his first retirement village development in 1995 with his partner Curtis Mann. Maurice has also been very active in the establishment and growth of the Retirement Village Association.
He was the first private operator to commit to the development of co-located aged care. They have three villages.
Panthers is significant. Only a few clubs have moved in to develop a village adjacent to their club facilities, economising on the community infrastructure required as well as servicing their ageing members.
The Dee Why RSL (on Sydney's Northern Beaches) was very successful with its village development and the nearby Harbord Diggers project looks set to be a reality - a huge project on an iconic seaside headland.
