Multi-award-winning retirement village operator, Waterbrook Australia, has announced plans to soon develop a luxury low-density retirement resort in Bowral, on the New South Wales Southern Highlands.

Titled Waterbrook Bowral, the village is earmarked to be the pinnacle of retirement living in the Southern Highlands. Collaborating with acclaimed Marchese Architects, the new Waterbrook community will be built as the first ever five-star retirement village development of its kind in the region.

A total of 135 opulent villas will be underscored by an extensive range of onsite facilities including; 24/ 7 concierge, a wellness centre and spa, business centre, lounge spaces, restaurant, bar, ballroom/play theatre and library. A beauty salon, and an à la carte fine dining restaurant, pool, social kitchen, expansive outdoor green spaces, hotel-style lifestyle services and medical management are also proposed

Waterbrook Australia’s reputation for innovating the retirement village model over the past two decades is being extended in the Waterbrook Bowral project, as the operator aims to continually focus on improving wellbeing and lifestyle for seniors through delivering world class facilities.

“Bowral is a uniquely beautiful township and we are determined that our project sits gracefully within the landscape, preserving historical features for future generations, while improving upon what is already an idyllic natural environment through further plantings and landscaping in keeping with Bowral’s rich garden history,” said Waterbrook founder and Managing Director, Kevin Ryan.

“Our wish is to continue leading the industry in raising the bar in terms of the accommodation and programmes we offer, while providing developments that are sensitive to their local surrounds,” said Mr Ryan.

Former school Our Lady of the Sacred Heart will be the site for the new village. Main buildings will receive a dramatic restoration and makeover to become the centrepiece of the Waterbrook Bowral village, as well as provide inviting spaces for Bowral’s various community clubs and associations.

“For too long, Australian retirement options have become an object of loathing. Our view has always been that retirement should not come with a sense of dread, but celebrated and enjoyed. Our focus is on ensuring that our residents have everything they require; from a comfortable and spacious home life, to a connected and active social life, five-star amenity and outstanding personal care,” said Mr Ryan.
