The local developer has plans for a 160 unit retirement village located off Ferrero Road which is valued at $60 million injection into the local community.

Campaigning for approval, Steve Thomas from Waks collected support from over 500 Port Douglas residents and presented them to the council. Port Douglas does not have a retirement village, which could force local residents to move to other towns to find seniors accommodation.

Waks is looking to the State government to assist in the planning scheme that will allow Sony for the retirement village.
