Last week Aveo Melrose Park retirement village residents were delighted to be visited by the Premier of South Australia, Jay Weatherill, who stopped by at the village for an afternoon tea celebration ahead of the State election.

Accompanying Mr Weatherill on his visit was local member for Elder, Annabel Digance MP.

Conversations surrounded Mr Weatherill’s ideas for the local area, and his first-hand insight into some of the projects affecting Melrose Park and the surrounding area.

Aveo Melrose Park resident was in attendance, and reflected on his first instance meeting the Premier.

“I got to meet Mr Weatherill a few years ago during my time as president of a local senior’s service club in Ascot Park, ‘Active Elders.’ I think he’s doing a marvellous job and it was fantastic to meet him again,” he said.

Anne-Marie Pickering, Operations Manager for Retirement Living Communities in South Australia said the entire village community were stoic in representation of their village upon meeting the Premier.

“The residents and staff of Melrose Park are very proud of their village. It is in a great location right next to the medical centre and the Castle Plaza Shopping centre. They have a great social atmosphere in the village with many and varied activities. I think that for the Melrose staff and residents they will be most pleased to be able to showcase a wonderful vibrant village.”

It was a successful event overall, with residents being particularly pleased to have valuable time spent speaking with the Premier about socially focused topics concerning South Australian retirees.
