Despite being listed on the Stock Exchange, Eureka Communities has been running on the smell of an oily rag to keep costs down. Robin Levison has been the Executive Chairman with Greg Rekers acting as Managing Director while also running his Navigator Property Group on the Gold Coast.
In 30 months they grew the share price from 12 cents to 65 cents, purchased 28 retirement villages and transitioned from more than 10 years of losses to $10.5 million after-tax profit in FY16.
They have now appointed their first dedicated CEO, having attracted Jeff Weigh (pictured), who was previously CEO of Brisbane’s South Bank, which included the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre and 70 retail tenants. Previously he co-founded Fortland hotels and resorts which he sold to Accor.
Robin tells us they had 114 applicants for the position.
