RetireAustralia has unveiled details of their new vertical village located alongside Burleigh Golf Club that aims to redefine seniors living in the region whilst injecting a welcome new revenue stream into the club.
The Verge at Burleigh GC will be built across three medium rise buildings and a wellness hub on an under-utilised section of the golf course adjacent to the 10th fairway.
Designed by O’Neill Architecture the development will include 145 one, two and three-bedroom contemporary apartments which are specifically designed to help residents stay independent within their homes for longer. Approximately half the apartments will face the golf course and upper level apartments will feature views to Miami and Mermaid Beach and the ocean beyond.
The project will also feature 32 state-of-the-art care suites for those requiring a higher level of support within their homes.
The modern wellness hub, with gymnasium, indoor and outdoor yoga areas, salon, café and lush gardens, will complement the existing clubhouse and will be open to both residents and golf club members.
RetireAustralia Senior Development Manager Judi Hutchison said “by collaborating with Burleigh Golf Club, we’re providing the club and its members with a renewed confidence in their future while filling a gap in the housing needs of the surrounding community”. She thanked the members of Burleigh Golf Club and the Gold Coast City Council for their support for the project.
Burleigh Golf Club Manager Ian Cottle said the development will have a very low impact on the golf course and allows the club to move forward on priority capital expenditure for the course and the clubhouse. Residents will have access to Burleigh Golf Club facilities, with parking spaces available at The Verge for residents’ buggies.
The Verge will also feature RetireAustralia’s unique new care offering which provides flexible independent living options tailored to each individual to ensure residents age well. This would be achieved through a diverse range of services, including private and government-funded care.
Construction of Stage 1 is expected to commence in 2019 with expressions of interest now open.
Independent living apartments are priced from $540,000.
