The Executive Director of the $700M turnover QLD care provider Blue Care, Robyn Batten, has notified parent Uniting Care QLD that she will be moving on in June to join eHealth innovator Borderless Healthcare. 

She will have held the position for six years. Previously she was Executive Director of Uniting Aged Care Victoria and Tasmania for four years.

She is also Executive Director of Australian Regional and Remote Community Services and a National Board Director of Aged and Community Services Australia (ACSA).

Blue Care is the largest business silo in the $1.3 billion turnover UnitingCare QLD operation and the one facing the most ‘disruption’ from the transition of direct payment to Blue Care by government of its $700M income for services to the consumer. Blue Care will increasingly have to compete for that income.

Regarded as one of the most progressive leaders in the not-for-profit sector, Batten’s re-engineering work for the disruptive future has been a cornerstone of UnitingCare QLD’s announcement last week that it is “taking bold and progressive steps to ensure its success in the disruptive aged care, health and disability sectors”.

As CEO Anne Cross stated, “The transfer of government funding from organisations to consumers has turned the non-profit sector on its head”.

Batten’s move to Borderless Health is also significant. It is an international platform for eHealth innovation pioneered by Dr Wei Siang Yu, a Singaporean neurosurgeon educated in Australia. His vision is to tap the best systems and structures for the delivery of health and make it available through the digital space with an emphasis on the Chinese market.

The Victorian government has committed multi million dollars in support funding to Borderless Health.
