Plans for a $28m retirement village at Royal Park in Adelaide have been lodged with Charles Sturt Council.

Charles Sturt has seen a rapid increase in its over-55 population, having risen 28% between the 2001 and 2011 census – an extra 3700 people.

A spokesman for the developer, Morry Canala said the retirement village would cater for the area's ageing population. Hindmarsh Development Australia have proposed that ‘Vivanti’ would have 90 apartments in a four story complex, along with 12 single-storey villas plus parking for 119 cars.

It is planned that the mix of independent living and supported accommodation will be released for sale in the second half of 2013. The complex would feature a leisure centre with a library, theatre, gym, gaming room and kitchen.
