Results of a 2016 PwC and Property Council retirement census have shown that there are multiple benefits for people who choose to downsize from their family sized homes, to a townhouse or apartment in a retirement village.
The findings showed that on average, in Australia, retirement village homes cost 67% of the full price of a suburban home in the same postcode. Additionally, percentages of village occupancy Australia-wide were quite high, meaning that residents will always have a community around them.
Five dominant benefits of downsizing emerged from the census. Respondents ranked affordability, a better lifestyle, sense of community, convenience and flexibility, and efficiency as the most desired qualities and characteristics potential residents look for when selecting a retirements village.
